A Mediaeval Weekend

This past weekend was completely devoted to mediaeval times. On Saturday I visited the Spectaculum in Weil am Rhein, a huge mediaeval fair with over 100 stalls, a tournament, lots of artists and two live bands. It took us over three hours until we were able to visit all the stalls. Granted, we did take frequent breaks to observe the various artists. My personal highlights were the concerts from Saltatio Mortis, the performance of Forzarello and the tournament. A couple of impressions can be found in my Gallery.

On Sunday I attended a performance of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana. Carl Orff collected 24 poems from mediaeval times and arranged them to form a cohesive collection. The Carmina Burana was performed by a huge Orchestra and three Choirs in Interlaken. Even though we didn’t have prime seats, we were barely able to see what was happening on stage, we had a great time.
