Silent Night (Stille Nacht - ein Gerippespiel)

There were two other reasons for me to visit Leipzig besides the reading I've blogged about before. First meeting up with good friends and second visiting a performance of 'Stille Nacht' a play written by Christian von Aster (he again ;)) and performed by the TheaterPack.

The story is hilarious: Timmy and his friends only wish is to get a nice present for Christmas. However, as Timmy knows, Santa Clause is also the local executioner and also very poor. To ensure that Santa Clause has enough money to buy presents this year they start to denounce fellow citizens and thus create work for the executioner. However, things start to get really in full swing when a freak show, a Christmas tramp and two Christmas elves, who are looking for a clue to Santa's disappearance two years earlier, turn up in town.

Even though it was a low key production the TheaterPack performed it with so much enthusiasm that it was a pure joy to watch.

Look at a couple of pictures to get a better idea of what I'm talking about ^^.
